"Country Twang" July 5th, 2002
The morning sun climbs over the hill and I say goodbye.
That morning my heart collapsed,
when your last token of love and appreciation made me shudder.
I sat upright afterwards,
trying to push all human thought out of my head,
wanting to believe the country twang over the radio;
wanting to love again the man I sat next to.
As the dirty pickup went slow up that endless road
My mind raced at one hundred thousand miles an hour.
Bitter reality and sweeter fantasy met
and tore whatever chance up.
